A magnitude 5 earthquake struck about 50km NE of Athens at 6:02 am local time according to the US Geological Survey. Its epicentre was located on the coast of the Corinth Gulf at a 10km depth.
The quake was felt in Athens and in many areas in central Greece.
No damages or injuries have been reported.
